personality and self concept

Solomon believed that personality is the unique make up which infulences the way in which a person responds to his or her environment. Also Soloman believed that self concept are the beliefs he or she holds about there attributes and how he or she evaluates those qualities.

The diagram above shows that a person has to be one or the other according to Cattell. In class we all took part in this test and i personally found a lot out about myself. I found out that i am sometimes suspicious of others if i do not understand what they are doing. Also we took a test on the internet to determine what type of character we were. The results were as follows:
I was a Ned Flaunders which shows that i am very caring about the relationships i have with people. It also it showed that i can bring out the best in people, not sure if thats true but hey ho thats what it says :).

Newcombe defined self concept as the individual as percieved by that individual in a socially determined frame of reference. Personally i believe this as it means that if you like yourself for you, then your self concept will be high.

I believe that personality is highly important on a social scale because your personality is the basis of friendship. People in general tend to be friends with people with a similar personality to there own, and this is because if someone has a similar personality to you then you will like the same things, and you will be able to connect with them on a higher level.
