Group conformity, opinion leaders and peer pressure

.

This is Kotlers model of group influences. It shows that there are two ways in which people are influenced, these are sociological which include culture and social and psychological which also include personal and psychological. The sociological is where the individual has no impact, where as the psychological is all personal such as the age and gender of the individual.

I believe that peer pressure and group comformaty is highly important to children and even adults.
From a young age when you are introduced to school you feel the need to make friends and fit in with groups, but what is the right group to be in? From my own opinion it depends on the people who bring you up i.e. your parents and where your from to who you befriend in school.
There are many ideas that the area you live plays a huge role in the friendships you make. However im from a council estate in watford, and i dont depict my friends to be horrible people due to them living in a place such as watford.
Its thought that if people go to private schools, they will have posh friends and in this aspect i agree. If they go to posh private schools, they might not be able able to interact with children of a lower class.

As you get older your friendship groups could change as you progress through life. Friendship groups can change dramatically if there is a big change in an individuals life, such as going to collage or moving to a completely different area. This could mean that an individual could have a completely different friendship group than they previously had.
